What has been your favorite project to work on?
My favorite project was the complex 3 year restoration of a Michigan Avenue landmark, where we utilized modern technology to curate replacement materials that seamlessly integrated with the ages metal and stonework. The success relied on balancing rigorous technical constraints and forensic evaluation with the preservation of the buildings beauty.
Why do you like working at KGH?
Working at KGH provides a unique opportunity to examine a side of Chicago’s architectural landscape typically unseen by the public, specifically the intricate performance of building envelopes and roofscapes from high altitude vantage points. I find immense satisfaction in deconstructing these above-grade failures, where the intersection of historic craftsmanship and modern building science becomes visible far above the city streets.
