Sun Deck

The 221 East Walton building is a 22-story residential condominium featuring sundecks on the north and south sides of the 22nd-floor penthouse. Each sundeck is divided into public and private areas.

Sun Deck Project:

• Demolition included removal of the existing buried membrane, concrete topping slab, insulation, and the separating wall between the public and private terraces.

• At the exposed structural slab, unsound concrete was removed, surfaces were prepared, new repair materials were installed, and existing drain heads were replaced.

• A sloped overlay was installed over the structural slab to promote drainage, followed by a waterproofing membrane, drainage mat, and insulation.

• New pavers on shims/pedestals were installed as the finished walking surface.

• A new metal and wood fence with a gate was installed to separate the public and private sundecks.

• Parapet wall repairs included painting and installation of a new guardrail at the perimeter.
